Film Tax Relief: This incentive emerged in 2007 and is aimed at film production companies that are subject to Corporation Tax. The overarching aim of the incentive is to encourage the film industry to continue to invest into the sector and boost innovation, increase employment, with the aim to grow UK’s creative heritage. With this incentive you can claim a payable credit of up to 25% of your qualifying expenditure. However, Film Tax Relief is capped at 80% which means that you can only claim 80% of your qualifying expenditure even if 100% of it qualifies.

Animation-Tax-Relief

Animation Tax Relief

Animation Tax Relief: This relief is available for animation programmes that have passed the cultural test, have been developed with the intent to be broadcasted or if it officially qualifies as a co-production. This incentive was developed to encourage further development of the creative sector and boost employment, as well as innovation within the world of animation. The scheme is set up with the intent of the money paid out being re-invested into the development of technologies designed to aid the animation process.

Video Game Tax Relief

Video Game Tax Relief: This incentive supports UK game developers by offering a tax rebate on qualifying expenditure which includes: designing, developing and testing their new invention. You can claim your tax relief for up to 20% of the costs incurred producing the video game.

High-End-TV-Tax-Relief

High End TV Tax Relief

High End TV Tax Relief: This incentive was introduced in 2013 for TV programmes that have passed the cultural test or that qualify as an official co-production in the UK. High End TV Tax Relief was designed to boost employment as well as innovation within the industry to promote UK’s creative programming and high value TV content. Similar to other creative tax relief incentives, you can claim up to 25% of your eligible expenditure back. However, the High End TV Tax Relief is capped meaning that you can claim up to 80% of the core expenditure even if 100% of it qualifies as core expenditure.

Children's-TV-Tax-Relief

Children's TV Tax Relief

Children’s TV Tax Relief: This incentive is a fusion of Animation Tax Relief and High End TV Tax Relief that was designed to reward producers of children’s television. 

There is currently no limit on the amount that you can claim through the Children’s TV Tax Relief, however you can only claim 80% of the total production budget.

Theatre Tax Relief: This incentive is aimed at production houses for live theatre performances as well as dramatic productions. It allows production houses to claim back a relief of 20%-25% on their Corporation Tax bill for pre-production costs. Unlike other creative tax reliefs, with the Theatre Tax Relief you might be eligible for it if you are already claiming exemptions on your Corporation Tax.

Museums and Galleries Tax Relief

Museums and Gallery Tax Relief: First introduced in 2017, this incentive is aimed at both touring and non-touring museums and galleries.

With Museums and Gallery Tax Relief touring exhibitions are able to claim a relief on their Corporation Tax of  up to 25%, as long as that credit doesn’t exceed £100,000. For non-touring exhibitions, the relief is set for 20% of values up to £80,000.

Orchestra Tax Relief: This incentive is designed to support the creation of concerts, by offering tax relief on pre-production activity.  

The performance should focus on the instrumentalists that perform in either an orchestra, group, ensemble or a band. 

 To qualify for the Orchestra Tax Relief your company must be the one that negotiates contracts and pays for services as well as rights and goods.
